Dan- Over half a century has gone by, Vietnamese people are
very proud of the revolutionary music with a very great and
valuable heritage of songs on President Ho Chi Minh and the
glorious Communist Party of Vietnam.
Many songs on the Party and President Ho
Chi Minh which were composed by famous composers such as Luu
Huu Phuoc, Van Cao, Do Nhuan, To Vu, Huy Du, Tran Hoan,
Thuan Yen have now become everlasting. Not only songs, there
are also symphonies and operas bringing the image of
President Ho into bold relief, engraving in the heart of the
Vietnamese people.
The image of President Ho is seen in
different genres of music, from marching song like ‘Bac
Van Cung Chung Chau Hanh Quan’ (Uncle Ho seems to March
with Us) by Huy Thuc, love song such as ‘Nhung Bong Hoa
Trong Vuon Bac’ (Flowers in Uncle Ho’s Garden) by Van
Dung to epic like ‘Nguoi La Niem Tin Tat Thang’
(President is the Belief for Victory).
Particularly, almost all the Vietnamese
composers have branded in their memory the image of Uncle Ho
conducting a song of unity. That was on September 3, 1960 at
Bach Thao (Botanical Garden) when President Ho came to join
the performance after the success of the third Party
Congress. In the presence of thousands of people and
international guests, President Ho came on the stage and
took the baton to conduct the philharmonic orchestra and the
choir to sing the song ‘Ket Doan’ (Unity). The moment
when Uncle Ho conducted the choir and the orchestra to
perform the ‘Unity’ song was captured by photographer Lam
Hong Long and this photo has since then become the symbol of
national unity and international unity as well as the
Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese music.
In accordance with the Party’s policy in
response to the creativity campaign on studying and
following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples, in recent
years, hundreds of musical works on the theme have been
introduced to the public. ‘Hanh khuc Ho Chi Minh’ (Ho
Chi Minh Marching Song) by Nguyen Duc Toan, and ‘Nuoc Non
Ten Nguoi’ (Land of President Ho’s Name) by Chu Minh are
one of the most remarkable works.
This shows that the subject on Uncle Ho
and the Party always inspires artists of the present day and
the future.
