Overseas Vietnamese builds hospital in Laos

Construction of the first private hospital for mothers and children invested by a family of Vietnamese nationals in Laos started on March 6 in Vientiane.

Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister Asanglaoly, Health Minister Ponmet Dalaloi, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Thongmivongvixay, President of the Vietnamese Association in Laos Hoang Dieu, President of the Co-operation and Investment Business Association in Laos Hoang Cung Thuong Nhan and other senior officials attended the inaugural ceremony.

Addressing the event, Ponmet Dalaloi spoke highly of the hospital’s significance, saying that the project not only creates favourable conditions for treatments but also helps reduce the mortality rate in Lao children. He expressed his hope that more private hospitals will be built in his country.

Covering an area of 12,550 sq.m, the seven-storey hospital will accommodate 120 beds, waiting rooms and basements equipped with modern facilities.
Construction of the US$3.8 million project, funded by the couple Dang Tien Thanh and Bien Thi Ki, is expected to be completed within 18 months. (VNA)
