The Chinese embassy granted a
donation of VND 90 million to the Vietnam Association for
Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) on March 11.
Chinese Ambassador Sun Gouxiang underscored that this aid
will help the victims improve their healthcare and living
standard, overcome the consequences of war and actively
adapt to society, adding that experts from the two countries
will jointly research an effective treatment for Vietnamese
AO victims in the next time.
At the ceremony, Honorary chairwoman of VAVA Nguyen Thi Binh
proposed that China continue helping AO/dioxin victims,
along with helping the world better understand the continued
harmful effect of this toxic on the environment and
Vietnamese people.
According to VAVA, around 4.8 million Vietnamese people have
been exposed to AO/dioxin, with more than 3 million of them
suffering health problems related to the exposure. (VNA) |
