Vietnam desires to enhance
co-operation in the areas of information technology,
bio-technology, and human resource training with the Indian
State of Karnataka, said National Assembly Chairman Nguyen
Phu Trong.
Chairman Trong stressed the further promotion of exchanges
and co-operation through parliamentary channels as well as
between localities in Vietnam and Karnataka at his talks
with the state’s Governor H.B. Bhardwaj during his current
visit to India.
Vietnam and India treasure their long-lasting relationship,
with ties that were established and fostered by late
President Ho Chi Minh and late Prime Minister Jawaharlal
Nehru, Chairman Trong said, emphasising the need for both
sides to continue to build on this legacy.
Governor Bhardwaj expressed pleasure with current
co-operation projects in oil and gas, affirming his
willingness to do his utmost to enhance similar efforts in
areas of focus for Vietnam such as aerospace and high
technology and infrastructure construction.
The Governor stressed the need to maintain and promote the
spirit of their traditional ties among the younger
generations of both countries.
Collaboration between the two legislatures will be of great
significance in promoting forward progress of the two
democracies, contributing to developing the India-Vietnam
strategic partnership, he added.
Also on the same day, Chairman Trong met Chairman of the
Karnataka Legislative Council Sri V. Mathikatti and
Secretary of Karnataka Legislative Assembly S.B. Patil.
The chairman expressed his wish to boost multi-faceted
co-operation with India, including Karnataka State. He said
he hoped that Karnataka, with its great potential and
strength, will accelerate joint efforts with Vietnam and
assist the country in terms of information technology, as
well as exchange programmes between the two legislative
bodies.
Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and his delegation also visited
the Indian Institute of Science, and the information
technology and software industry centre Infosys. (VNA) |
